It’s not the first instance of unusually high temperatures in Alaska, but using the heat advisory label could help convey the weather’s severity.

The state, which previously issued information about high temperatures using special weather statement, has issued its first heat advisory.

The National Weather Service has issued the first ever Heat Advisory for Alaska in the Fairbanks area to prepare for the warmer than normal temperatures expected over the next few days.
