Alex Bowman and Tyler Reddick both crashed in the Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona, but held on to advance to the Cup Series Playoffs.

Bowman wrecked out in a multi-car pileup on Lap 27, one which claimed the cars of Bubba Wallace, Austin Cindric and Ricky Stenhouse Jr., among others. He struck the outside wall near the frontstretch tri-oval, came to a halt along the backstretch, and was towed into the garage area. The damage proved to great to repair, and Bowman finished 36th.

William Byron had already locked up the regular-season title at Richmond, so there was no drama surrounding the overall standings at Daytona. The main focus was on the final two playoff spots, which were occupied by Tyler Reddick and Alex Bowman going into the World Center of Racing.
