A Las Vegas man at a checkpoint with fake IDs was found to be in illegal possession of a loaded firearm and a high-capacity magazine, authorities said.

Authorities arrested a man outside former President Donald Trump's Coachella Valley campaign rally on Saturday in possession of a shotgun, a loaded handgun, and a high-capacity magazine.

Trump narrowly avoided an assassination attempt in July at a rally in Butler, Pa. A bullet grazed his ear before snipers assigned to his Secret Service detail killed the gunman, Thomas Crooks, who had opened fire from the roof of a nearby building. A rally attendee, Corey Comperatore, was killed shielding his family from the gunfire.
