BYU just secured one of its most notable recruiting flips in recent memory. Four-star defensive end Hunter Clegg has backed out of his pledge to Utah and signed with the Cougars, BYU announced Sunday evening.

Defensive coordinator Jay Hill has been looking for a pass rusher who can generate sacks. In the last two years, most of BYU’s pass rush has come from the linebacker position with Harrison Taggart and Isaiah Glasker. Getting to the quarterback with a four-man rush is a critical part of Hill’s scheme, he said.

BYU added a huge piece to the defensive line as 4-star American Fork product Hunter Clegg announced his signing with BYU. Clegg signed with Utah before his mission as part of the 2023 class, but committed to BYU after returning home from his mission last week.
