President's rule was withdrawn in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, paving the way for the formation of a new government in the union territory. A gazette notification to this effect was issued by the Union Home Ministry.

Omar Abdullah is set to become the Chief Minister as his party National Conference (NC) won 42 seats in the 95-seat assembly, where 90 are elected and five are nominated members.
