Mistakenly deported Salvadoran native Kilmar Abrego Garcia appeared in a Tennessee courtroom Friday, hours after he was brought back to the United States to face criminal charges for allegedly transporting undocumented migrants within the U.

The Maryland man, whose erroneous deportation to El Salvador became a protracted battle over due process and a test of wills, will face human smuggling charges in Tennessee.

After months of a legal and political battle over Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s deportation, he is back in the U.S. facing human smuggling charges. Sen. Van Hollen (D-MD) joins Ana Cabrera to react to Abrego Garcia receiving due process which Van Hollen and others have been fighting for.
