President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky are meeting at the White House to discuss Russia’s war in Ukraine.

As negotiations over a potential deal to end the war in Ukraine intensify, much of the discussion has centred around a part of the country's east that has long been at the heart of Russia's goals.

Questions also linger over securing a ceasefire before a broader peace deal is reached – an option apparently off the table since Trump’s shift in position after he met Putin in Alaska.
