As many as 19 people suffered injuries after 12 coaches of the 12578 Mysuru Darbhanga Bagmati Express derailed after it hit a stationary goods train near the Kavarapettai station in Tamil Nadu on Friday night. No casualties were reported and one of the coaches caught fire.

Chennai: The National Investigation Agency (NIA)on Saturday started a probe into the Tamil Nadu train accident in which 19 people were injured. The initial NIA probe revealed that the bolts of the track interlocking system is missing.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Lalan Singh, who is the Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying and Panchayati Raj, said that train accidents keep happening.

The Mysuru-Darbhanga Express train met with an accident near Kavarappettai railway station in the Chennai Division on Friday.

The NIA suspects the accident may have been caused by track sabotage, according to the sources. Initial findings revealed missing bolts and other components from the tracks, raising suspicion of foul play.

The Mysuru-Darbhanga Bagmati Express collided with a stationary goods train at the Kavaraippettai railway station in the Chennai rail division in Tamil Nadu at around 8:30 pm on October 11 leading to injuries to 19 passengers.
