Sgt. Thomas Gibbs has been appointed the new chief deputy for the Scott County Sheriff's Office following the retirement of former Chief Deputy Mike Brown.

Gibbs is a 48-year-old lieutenant with the Scott County Sheriff's Office. He received 1,780 votes, to Morse's 785, according to unofficial results posted Tuesday night.
