More than 100 National Security Council officials have been removed from their roles or detailed back to their agencies, part of a broader restructuring process under Secretary of State Marco Rubio who is also serving as interim national security adviser.

President Donald Trump is ordering a major overhaul of the National Security Council that will shrink its size, lead to the ouster of some political appointees and return many career government employees back to their home agencies.

The dismissals, part of a plan to sharply downsize the National Security Council, follow President Donald Trump’s recent ouster of his national security adviser.
