The Spurs did get the better of the Pelicans for most of Sunday’s clash, but they shot the ball poorly from everywhere and failed to clean either end of the glass against an inconsistent New Orleans rebounding side. San Antonio will shoot better than the 33% from the field and 29% from downtown and won't be outrebounded by 23 as it was on Sunday.

The Pelicans, who trailed by 17 points in the first half, roared back and delivered a fourth-quarter knockout punch for a convincing 114-96 victory at the Smoothie King Center. Zion Williamson led the way with 22 points and nine rebounds but had plenty of help.

The Spurs became weaker as the game went on, while the Pelicans became stronger in the road loss. The starters didn’t show up, but the bench crew did what it could. This was like watching two low-ranked boxers engage in the pocket and mostly miss.
