The Senate approved Emil Bove as a federal judge in the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. The vote will place Bove — who has been accused of intentionally misleading federal courts on behalf of the Trump administration and lying to Congress — in a lifetime appointment to one of the most powerful positions within the judiciary.

Emil Bove, President Donald Trump’s former criminal defense attorney, has been confirmed to a lifetime seat on the Third Circuit Court of Appeals — the culmination of a tumultuous campaign from his detractors that ultimately fractured his support among the Senate GOP.

The Republican-majority Senate voted 50-49 to confirm Bove to a lifetime appointment on the Philadelphia-based 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
