A winter storm warning is in effect in the Chicago area that could bring up to 6-12 inches of snow in some areas through Sunday. The warning took effect overnight Saturday and continues through 6 a.m.

A winter storm is creating travel headaches through a large part of the country as millions make their way home from the Thanksgiving holiday.

More than a foot (30 centimeters) of snow is likely in parts of Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin and Michigan on Saturday, according to the weather service.
