Five people were injured, including one critically, when a wave capsized their disabled boat about 200 yards off Bird Rock late Friday afternoon, according to San Diego Fire-Rescue Department. The severely injured person had to be extricated from the boat’s cabin while it was underwater, agency spokesperson Candace Hadley said.

The U.S. Coast Guard rescued three people and are searching for a fourth person after a fishing boat sank along the coast near Newport on Aug. 10.
