Amid predictions of rivers breaching the danger levels in Thane, the collector has declared a leave for all schools and colleges in Thane on Wednesday

At least a dozen people complained of suffocation and two reportedly fainted. One woman was hospitalised, but her condition was said to be stable.

IMD issued a red alert for the island city on August 18. Schools and colleges have been closed and flights diverted amid monsoon mayhem. Heavy rains caused waterlogging at several places and lakes are overflowing.
