It’s a major cog in the mass transit connection to LAX. It is a train station opening on Friday that will be the closest to the airport and soon will connect to a people mover.

In the words of L.A. Mayor Karen Bass, today marks the “beginning of a new era in our city.” And to celebrate the big opening, rides across the entire Metro system—rail lines, buses, Metro Bike Share and rideshare service Metro Micro—are free from Friday through Sunday.

With the Friday opening of the LAX Metro Transit Center, getting to the airport entirely via train is almost possible, offering travelers an alternative to using their cars or ride shares. “[This is] a major step forward in how people move into,
