Polk County officials announced that debris collection will begin Monday, Oct. 14, as part of ongoing recovery efforts following Hurricane Milton.

A Frostproof man was arrested Thursday morning after allegedly breaking into a convenience store during a power outage caused by Hurricane Milton. Just before 7:00 am on October 10th, while much of Frostproof was still without power,

Millions of people evacuated from regions threatened by Hurricane Milton over the last few days, and many have been returning as waters recede and power is restored. But the rush of people on the roads and filling up generators and chainsaws are causing long lines and empty gas pumps.
