Adan Manzano, 27, the sole parent to a toddler after his wife died, was living his dream of becoming a sports journalist. A woman has been charged with fraud in connection with the case.

Danette Colbert of Louisiana has been charged with fraud and theft, police said. Investigators said she used a credit card belonging to Adan Manzano.

Manzano's death comes less than a year after the death of his wife, Ashleigh Boyd, who was involved in a car accident on April 11, 2024, in Topeka, Kansas. Boyd and Manzano shared a daughter, who was 15 months old at the time of Boyd’s death, according to Boyd's obituary.
