The 2026 FIFA World Cup draw takes place on Friday afternoon in Washington, D.C. Forty-two of the 48 participants for next summer's event in the United States, Canada and Mexico have been determined. The final six will be decided in various playoff matches in March.
The draw is set for next year’s World Cup co-hosted by United States, Canada, and Mexico. The U.S. will face Australia, Paraguay, and UEFA Playoff Winner C in their group. Group A: Mexico, South Korea, South Africa, UEFA playoff D winner (Denmark, Czechia, Republic of Ireland, North Macedonia) Group B: Canada, Switzerland, Qatar, UEFA playoff A winner (Italy, Wales, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Northern Ireland)
As for the USMNT, Mauricio Pochettino will be pretty content with his nation’s opponents on home soil. With an average ranking of 33, Group D is the fifth-toughest, also containing Australia, Paraguay and UEFA Playoff Winner C, which will be one of Türkiye, Romania, Slovakia or Kosovo.
