Police identified several Muscatine businesses and buildings that were targeted including Guadalajara Mexican Restaurant, Jibaro Restaurant, Pete’s Tap Bar & Grill, Muscatine City Hall, Susan Clark Junior High School and Muscatine Community College.
MUSCATINE, Iowa (KWQC) - Muscatine Community College was placed on a lockdown Tuesday due to threats of vandalism to the college. The college received a phone call from someone who claimed they had information about the recent acts of vandalism and threats against the college and Muscatine community.
In a press release, police said there were 11 victims associated with the vandalism, including Guadalajara and Jibaro restaurants, Pete’s Tap bar & Grill, Pearl City Tobacco & Liquor, the Merrill Hotel, Muscatine City Hall, Susan Clark Junior High School, Muscatine Community College and properties at 113 Iowa Avenue and 208 W 2nd Street.
The Muscatine police are currently investigating the situation. They say one of the buildings had a damaged window and one of the restaurants had received threatening emails. Muscatine Mayor Brad Bark also gave a statement condemning the hateful vandalism.
The center will offer one-on-one counseling, loans and support for women pursuing small businesses in Eastern Iowa.
Eastern Iowa Community Colleges (EICC) received a threatening phone call this morning, according to a news release from the college. EICC received a phone call from a person on January 28 who claimed to have information about recent acts of vandalism committed against the college and the Muscatine community.
