Santa Ana winds have returned to Southern California, prompting wind warnings across the region, according to the National Weather Service.

In the past six years, Santa Ana taxpayers have spent over $5 million on police car wrecks including crashes from vehicle pursuits.

Strong winds whipped through Southern California on Saturday, with the strongest gusts clocked at 88 mph in the San Diego County mountains region.

Downtown Los Angeles and the LA Basin are expected to experience only light winds on Saturday. "It's going to be dry and sunny for wind-free areas, like the LA Basin," CBS LA Meteorologist Alex Biston said.
