New York City Mayor Eric Adams will face the federal judge on Wednesday who will decide whether to grant the Justice Department's request to dismiss corruption charges against him after lawyers explain the abrupt change in position just weeks before an April trial.

A federal judge has ordered U.S. prosecutors to appear in court Wednesday to address why they are seeking to dismiss criminal charges filed against New York Mayor Eric Adams, according to a court document.

Judge Dale Ho, a Biden appointee, noted in the New York mayor’s case that the government’s prosecutorial discretion is broad but also that the judiciary has an independent role to play.

Adams and Department of Justice officials were ordered to address the government’s motion to drop his criminal charges.
