NEW YORK (AP) — Leonard Lauder, a renowned philanthropist who expanded the family cosmetics business into a worldwide empire, has died at the age of 92.

Leonard, who was also famed art collector and philanthropist, died “surrounded by family” on Saturday, June 14, the Estée Lauder Companies Inc. announced in a statement on Sunday, June 15.

In 1995, Lauder took the company public on the New York Stock Exchange at $26 a share. The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. now has a market capitalization of about $24.3 billion.
