Wedding bells are ringing! Following this summer's 'The Materialists,' Celine Song is attached to a buzzy new sequel! The filmmaker has been tapped to write a sequel to Sony's 'My Best Friend’s Wedding.

Say a little prayer for Celine Song, the Past Lives and Materialists writer-director. Per Collider, Sony has hired Song to write a sequel to Julia Roberts’ 1997 rom-com hit, My Best Friend’s Wedding.

Collider first reported the project. “My Best Friend’s Wedding” sequel is in early development at Sony Pictures. Song is not in talks to direct, though. IndieWire has reached out to Sony for comment.
