The New York Mets inducted David Wright into their Hall of Fame and retired his No. 5 on Saturday -- nearly 21 years after his big league debut.

The New York Mets honored one of the most beloved players in franchise history Saturday afternoon and officially retired longtime third baseman David Wright's No. 5 in a pregame ceremony at Citi Field. They marked the occasion with a big No. 5 on the Home Run Apple in center field.

“DA-VID WRIGHT!” they chanted as the master of ceremonies, Mets radio broadcaster Howie Rose, attempted to move forward. Wright embraced his former teammates before making his way to his wife and three children, manager Carlos Mendoza, and team owner Steve Cohen and his wife, Alex.
