Europe is uniting in response to US President Donald Trump’s efforts to appropriate Greenland. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen sought to drum up support from German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin and French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris before a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

Frederiksen didn't directly mention Trump's threat in comments at a meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, but said that “we are facing a more uncertain reality, a reality that calls for an even more united Europe and for more cooperation.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen on Tuesday said she had received support from European leaders as she sought backing to counter U.S. President Donald Trump's threats to take over Greenland. After an initial stopover in Berlin in the morning,

Until recently the most that people tended to know about cold and sparsely populated Greenland is that it is not small and also that it is not Iceland. It’s a frigid autonomous territory of Denmark, but self-governing.

U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly said that America needs to take control of Greenland from Denmark for, in his words, “international security.” But as Henry Ridgwell reports, the global attention is driving a desire among many native Greenlanders to determine their own political future.
