Hurricane Milton passed through Florida days ago, but the devastating storm is still causing chaos at gas stations.

As of Friday morning, almost 29% of the Florida's gas stations were sold out, according to GasBuddy gas analyst Patrick De Haan. That means roughly 2,320 of the state's nearly 8,000 stations were out of fuel Friday morning. "It may get slightly worse before it starts getting better," he said on social media site X.

Millions of people evacuated from regions threatened by Hurricane Milton over the last few days, and many have been returning as waters recede and power is restored. But the rush of people on the roads and filling up generators and chainsaws are causing long lines and empty gas pumps.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) announced that three fuel distribution sites would be set up and provide free fuel to the state’s residents at a Saturday press conference after multiple cities were hit by Hurricane Milton.

In Palm Beach County, which usually has the state's highest gas prices, the average was $3.26, the same as last week, five cents less than a month ago, and 28 cents less than a year ago.
