A 42-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a woman in Mallow, County Cork last week. Joe Butler, of the Belfry in Mallow, was arrested on Tuesday following the discovery of the body of 31-year-old Paula Canty.

The man will appear before Midleton District Court where he will be charged with the murder of Paula Canty (31) at the Belfry, Bridewell Lane in Mallow on Friday.

A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a woman in Mallow, Co Cork last week. The body of 31-year-old Paula Canty was found at her home on Friday morning. She was originally from Kinsale in Co Cork and had only moved to Mallow in recent months.

The man, a native of Midleton in east Cork, was arrested on Monday afternoon for questioning about the murder of 31-year-old Paula Canty at her flat in Mallow last Friday. It is understood that gardaí identified the man from CCTV footage as being with Ms Canty when she was out socialising around Mallow town late last Thursday night.

Gardaí have charged a man in connection with the killing of a Cork woman whose body was found in an apartment in North Cork last week. Paula Canty's body was discovered with suspected stab wounds at an apartment along Bridewell Lane on Friday,
