The full moon occurs on the 9th in the constellation of Aquarius — the Perseid meteor showers peak from August 11-13. Venus and Jupiter conjoin for a summer kiss as the two planets will shine bright together at just a degree apart on August 11 and 12, according to NASA. The two planets will be visible to the east before sunrise.

The American Meteor Society also notes that the moon may give viewers some difficulty. Perseids' peak occurs just three days after August's full moon, so the moon will still be mostly full. Thus, it is highly probable that light pollution from the moon may reduce the number of visible meteors by a hefty margin, depending on how things go.

When it comes to meteor showers, the Perseids pop. It's not just about the quantity of meteors (as many as 100 per hour) and their showy quality but also their superb timing.
