Mitzi Gaynor, the star of Golden Age musicals such as South Pacific and Les Girls, who also gained acclaim for a string of Emmy-winning TV specials, has died. She was 93. Gaynor’s managers, Rene Reyes and Shane Rosamonda, confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that the actress died on Oct. 17 in Los Angeles of natural causes.

An effervescent dancer and actor, Mitzi Gaynor was among the last survivors of the so-called golden age of the Hollywood musical.

Mitzi Gaynor, who starred alongside Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra and Gene Kelly and was known for her role in "South Pacific," died Thursday in LA. She was 93.

The effervescent peformer was known for appearing in Hollywood musicals including "There's No Business Like Show Business" and "Anything Goes" alongside Bing Crosby.

Gaynor, among the last survivors of the so-called golden age of the Hollywood musical, died of natural causes in Los Angeles on Thursday morning, her long-time managers Rene Reyes and Shane Rosamonda confirmed in a statement to The Associated Press.

She was best known for starring in the 1958 screen version of “South Pacific.” But her Hollywood career was brief, and she soon shifted her focus to Las Vegas and TV.
