Jazz Chisholm Jr. hit a two-run homer and scored twice to lead the visiting New York Yankees past the St. Louis Cardinals 4-3.

With Brian Cashman accompanying the Yankees to St. Louis, the Bombers beat the Cardinals, 4-3, on Friday night. The general manager, making a rare road trip, told reporters that his presence had more to do with his scheduling availability than the Yankees’ third-place standing or their poor play over the past two-plus months.

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman has rarely made road trips for years, so it was a surprise seeing him standing outside the Busch Stadium visiting dugout Friday while his sputtering-for-two-months ballclub took batting practice ahead of this weekend’s series opener against the Cardinals.
