A former National Park Service (NPS) ranger is speaking out after around 1,000 employees were reportedly let go from their positions with the organization as part of efforts from Donald Trump's administration to cut federal spending.

Trump administration cuts to the National Park Service not only will adversely impact the national parks but do economic damage to the gateway communities that surround them, according to park advocates.

The National Park Service informed superintendents Thursday about upcoming layoffs. An internal email reveals 2,300 probationary employees, including 1,000 from the Park Service, will be dismissed Friday.

Seven years ago, two years into the first Trump administration, the National Park Service veteran, was forced out. While his departure from the agency wasn't as abrupt as those given on Valentine's Day to 1,000 Park Service employees and another 1,300 across the Interior Department, it stung just as much.
