By Luc Cohen, Jack Queen (Reuters) -Federal prosecutors on Friday formally asked a U.S. judge to drop bribery charges against New York Mayor Eric Adams after an order by an official in President Donald Trump's Justice Department for them to do so prompted mass resignations.

At least six prosecutors, including the acting U.S. attorney in Manhattan, have stepped down over the DOJ order to dismiss corruption charges against New York Mayor Eric Adams.

Three senior Justice Department officials in New York and Washington resigned Thursday instead of complying with orders from the Trump administration to dismiss the corruption case against New York City Mayor Eric Adams.
