Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) crews are preparing for what has the potential to be a significant, statewide weather event tonight into Friday, Jan. 10. Earlier this week, Arkansas saw its first bout of light winter weather for the year in the northwest and north-central parts of the state.

As Arkansas prepares for potential winter weather this week, the Arkansas Department of Transportation is also preparing roads for travelers.

A winter storm made its way into Arkansas Thursday morning, depositing piles of snow and sleet along all the roadways in its wake.

State agencies and public utilities are preparing, and offering advice, in advance of winter weather expected in Arkansas on Thursday and Friday.

As temperatures continue to drop, drivers across the Mid-South are bracing for the arctic blast. Snow flurries, freezing temperatures, and strong winds are not the ideal conditions for Midsouth roadways.
