Blue Ghost has captured its first images of the moon from lunar orbit as the spacecraft’s landing attempt on the surface approaches. See the spectacular views here.

Blue Ghost is aiming to become the second private lander to successfully soft-land on the moon, just over a year after Intuitive Machines' Odysseus lander. If all goes well, the solar-powered spacecraft will operate on the surface of the moon for one lunar day, or about 14 Earth days, with lunar sunset expected to bring an end to the mission.

"trans lunar injection." Then on Thursday, the lander, named Blue Ghost, fired its engines for four minutes to propel the spacecraft beyond Earth’s orbit toward the moon. The engine burn was the most challenging the lander had conducted with its main engine and thrusters since launching Jan.

The Blue Ghost will make a soft landing on the moon on Sunday. Firefly Aerospace posted a video of the spacecraft making its second burn before getting into lunar orbit ahead of landing. The Earth rises and sets in the distance of the video.
