Police are investigating two shootings targeting elected officials in Minnesota that could possibly be connected, officials said.
State Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband were shot and killed and State Sen. John Hoffman and his wife Yvette were shot and wounded in “targeted shootings” in Champlin and Brooklyn Park, two neighboring suburban cities 10 to 20 miles outside Minneapolis. Hortman served the people of Minnesota with compassion and grace, Walz said.
Minnesota Democrat Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband have died after they were shot at their home in Brooklyn Park early Saturday morning, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz said during a press conference.
It allegedly took months of planning, but the suspect in deadly attacks on Minnesota lawmakers unfolded over a roughly 90-minute time span.
