A tropical depression could form in the Atlantic by the end of the week, the National Hurricane Center said. A disturbance located between the Cabo Verde Islands and the Lesser Antilles is currently in a dry-air environment and development is not anticipated in the next several days.

The system could become a tropical depression late this week as it begins moving west-northwestward and approaches the Leeward Islands. The chance of development in the next week is 50%. It does not pose an immediate threat to Louisiana.
