Firefighters battled a massive fire on the property of an abandoned paper mill in Oregon City early Thursday morning.

Fire crews had to return to the scene Wednesday to make sure the fire was completely out after the initial call on Tuesday.

AJ Jackson, currently division chief for medical services and training, will temporarily take over after current Fire Chief Ryan Gillespie retires on March 4.
