Prague, a city as famous for its beer as its historic architecture, is to ban late-night bar crawls as it seeks to end its reputation as a party destination.

Prague is to ban night-time pub crawls organised by travel agencies, in a bid to deter rowdy tourists from visiting and attracting more "refined" visitors instead. The Czech capital's authorities say organised pub crawls - often aimed at foreign stag and hen dos - will be banned between 22:00 and 06:00 local time (21:00-05:00 BST).

Prague city councillors announced the city would ban night-time pub crawls organised by travel agencies. The ban will occur between 10pm and 6am, and targets foreign bachelor and bachelorette parties. The city is seeking "cultured" tourists, and steering away from ones coming "only get drunk", Prague's deputy mayor said.
