The Texas House approved the plan, part of a push by President Trump’s allies to offer up to $10,000 for private school, home-school or virtual learning.

The Texas House is taking up a sweeping private school voucher plan on Wednesday that is a top priority for Gov. Greg Abbott and would give students roughly $10,000 a year in taxpayer money to spend on private education.

The Texas House of Representatives voted to give initial approval to a $1 billion program that will see taxpayer money fund private school fees, a top priority of Gov. Greg Abbott and one he says will improve choice for parents and children.
