This is a complex topic and everyone will have a different opinion! There is a difference between cutting a chain from a spool, and building a chain from individual units, but each thing has its place. Not everyone wants something super complex and expensive, sometimes a simple chain with charms is all they want. I guess it’s similar to knitting a jumper versus sewing one from a reel of fabric.
