This week, the FDNY responded to two multiple-alarm fires in Queens. At both fires, there were cars ILLEGALLY parked on fire hydrants, a dangerous crime that hindered fire operations. The Department’s Bureau of Fire Prevention issued criminal court summonses – and these are punishable with fines of up to five thousand dollars. Every second matters in saving lives. 1.6.26 | Queens - During operations at Queens 5th Alarm Box 4037, a window air conditioner plummeted from the 3rd floor, hitting a member operating below it in the head. Rescue 4 “hook” transmitted a Mayday for a member down in the front of the building, requesting EMS forthwith to assist. The firefighter was transported to the hospital where he is being treated for his injuries. 4 other firefighters were also hospitalized.
