MAHALIA JACKSON DOWN BY THE RIVERSIDE

There once was a shipyard located where the Riverside neighborhood now sits during World War I in 1917 in Brunswick, Georgia. The Riverside neighborhood is located on Riverside Drive ( neighborhood behind the New China Restaurant on Highway 17) in Brunswick, Georgia, not far from Goodyear Elementary. The U.S. Maritime Corporation shipyard was located on the Back River in 1917. They had to dredge the Back River to fill in the land to build the shipyard. This shipyard was built during World War 1
