Update on the baby Bald Eagle! Pearl, a nestling Bald Eagle found on the ground in Angoon, Alaska, is growing quickly under our care here at the Alaska Raptor Center. Pearl is eating well and has gained almost 4 pounds (62 oz) in only a week! Tick tock hatch clock - we're on hatch watch in Decorah! While we predicted hatch to happen on April 4th, hatch is a process. We're watching for egg talk, pantree stocking, and of course pip - all signs that hatch is in progress! Please join us as we pace the delivery room floor and wait for the eaglets to emerge from their shells. At this point, most of their major morphological changes are done. But... - Their eyelids still need to close all the way. - Their eyes are growing into their sockets
