Florida Gars- Lepisosteus platyrhincus It’s been a while but we are pleased to announce they’re here again! This species along with the Cuban Gar - Atractosteus tristoechus are the only two true Gars that are legal in both England and Wales. These specimens are between 10-11” total length with a nice girth to boot! There’s some good variation in pattern too amongst this group which is always nice. We have approx 20 in stock, however! being so popular we don’t expect them to hang around too long.

18” Florida Gars- Lepisosteus platyrhincus Looking for Florida Gars? Well we have these two “large” chunky examples on offer. These are well established fish that have come from a longstanding private collection, both fish are taking frozen, as well as pelleted foods, either from the surface or from the bottom of the aquarium. This is indeed a primitive Pike with long snipe-like jaws and ganoid scales, rather like armour. This primitive scalation also found in Polypteridae ( Bichir’s) does howev
